Hi, I'm Susan Miller, and I'm a professional, fully certified wedding and funeral celebrant based in East Kilbride, Scotland. I've had the profound privilege of creating and leading hundreds of ceremonies over the past 7+ years — weddings, elopements, funerals, baby namings, commitment ceremonies, and celebrations marking life's most important moments. I'm also the co-founder of Celebrants Scotland, a network of 15 professional celebrants across central Scotland and beyond.
What drives me? A simple belief: every ceremony should matter. It should feel personal, authentic, and deeply reflective of the people involved. Whether you're getting married, saying goodbye to someone you love, celebrating a new arrival, or marking a commitment, I'm here to help you create something meaningful and beautiful.
I'm also an award-winner — I was honored as TWIA Scotland's Celebrant of the Year in 2025, and I've received annual recognition from Hitched and regional wedding industry bodies. But honestly? The greatest award is hearing from couples and families that their ceremony felt exactly like them.

My path to celebrancy wasn't straightforward, and that's part of what makes me good at what I do.
Before becoming a celebrant, I spent years in roles that taught me something fundamental: people are at their best when they feel listened to, understood, and supported. I learned how to put people at ease in stressful circumstances, manage concerns with empathy, and help others achieve their goals. I also learned the power of human connection — how a genuine conversation can transform someone's day or outlook.
When I first discovered celebrancy, it felt like coming home. Here was a profession where I could combine all of that experience with my passion for language, storytelling, and human moments. I undertook full training to become a legally authorized marriage officer and funeral celebrant in Scotland, and I've been evolving and refining my craft ever since.
Over the past 20 years, I've seen the wedding and funeral industries change dramatically. What's stayed constant? People's need for ceremonies that feel real, personal, and true to who they are. That's my north star.

I believe that:
Ceremonies should be personal. Not generic, not cookie-cutter, not what someone else thinks you should want. Your ceremony should tell your story and reflect your values, style, and personality.
Connection is everything. Before I write or deliver a ceremony, I invest real time in getting to know you. I ask questions. I listen. I learn about your quirks, your humor, your values, and the things that make your relationship unique. That knowledge becomes the foundation of everything.
Joy and laughter matter. Life's biggest moments don't have to be solemn. The best ceremonies balance heartfelt emotion with humor and lightness. I love weaving in funny stories, unexpected moments, and the real joy of celebration.
Professionalism and warmth aren't mutually exclusive. You can be deeply professional — prepared, knowledgeable, reliable — while still being warm, authentic, and genuinely invested in the people you serve.
Everyone deserves a beautiful ceremony. Whether you're planning a £50,000 wedding or an intimate two-person elopement, your ceremony is important and deserves care and creativity.

As a Wedding Celebrant: I create bespoke, legally binding marriage ceremonies tailored completely to you. From our first chat to your big day, you get unlimited consultations, creative input, and my full support. I'll help you craft vows, suggest rituals, recommend readings, and handle the logistics so you can relax. On your wedding day, I arrive early, check in with your bridal party, and stay until you're officially married — and beyond if you need anything. I'm a recommended supplier with RAD Hotel Group and have worked with hundreds of venues across Scotland.
As a Funeral Celebrant: I help families create dignified, meaningful funeral services that honor their loved ones. I'll work closely with you to understand who the person was, what mattered to them, and how to celebrate their life authentically. Funeral ceremonies can be deeply personal, and I'm here to guide families through that process with compassion.
Other Ceremonies: I also create baby namings, commitment ceremonies, vow renewals, and celebrations for life's milestones.
Geographic Coverage: I'm based in East Kilbride and cover the Central Belt, Ayrshire, Lothian, Perthshire, and beyond. If you're getting married anywhere in Scotland, let's talk.

There are many celebrants in Scotland. Here's what sets me apart:
Experience. I've led hundreds of ceremonies and worked with all kinds of couples, families, and scenarios. I've conducted ceremonies in sunshine and snow, in gardens and barns, with five people or fifty.
Personality. I'm not robotic or impersonal. I show up as myself — warm, genuine, often funny. People feel comfortable with me, which means they open up and share the stories that make their ceremony special.
Attention to detail. I write ceremonies with care and precision. Every word counts. I'll ask follow-up questions, refine details, and make sure your ceremony is exactly as you want it.
Testimonials. Check my reviews on Hitched or Google — couples consistently mention how personal, fun, and professional their experience was.
Ongoing support. You don't just get me on the day. You get me throughout the process — answering questions, offering ideas, and keeping you calm and excited as your date approaches.

When I'm not creating or delivering ceremonies, I'm usually out exploring Scotland's beautiful landscapes. I'm a keen landscape photographer with a particular love for high-altitude shots, alpenglow, and sunrise/sunset moments — often armed with my Samsung S26 and a thermos of tea.
I've traveled to some incredible places, including Alaska, USA, Canada, Scandinavia, all over Europe, and even the Gornergrat in Switzerland (facing the Matterhorn), which holds special meaning for me.
I'm also passionate about spending time with family and friends and making the most of opportunities life throws my way. I love solo travel, good conversation, and communities of people doing work they care about.
If you're getting married or celebrating another life milestone in Scotland, I'd love to chat with you.
