Hello! I'm Susan Miller, a Scottish wedding celebrant, and I'm honored to serve couples getting married across Stirling. Whether you're planning an intimate celebration at a local barn venue, a grand affair at a beloved hotel, or an elopement by the loch, I'm here to create your perfect ceremony.
Stirling is such a beautiful part of Scotland; couples are drawn here to say "I do." I've had the privilege of creating and leading ceremonies at some of Stirling's loveliest venues, and I know the area well. If you're getting married in Stirling, I'd love to help you craft a ceremony that feels personal, fun, and perfectly suited to your style.

Stirling is one of those places that always feels a bit magical for a wedding. It has the perfect mix of history, scenery, and a calm atmosphere that helps you settle into your day. You’ve got the castle standing high above the city, the Wallace Monument watching over the hills, and the River Forth winding its way through the countryside.
Whether you’re from Scotland and know these views well, or you’ve chosen Stirling for your Scottish wedding adventure, it’s a place that never fails to create something special.
Over the years, I’ve stood with couples as they’ve exchanged vows in historic venues, peaceful gardens, and quiet country lodges just outside the city. Stirling has a way of making every wedding feel personal, whether you’re planning something big with all your family and friends or a small, intimate ceremony with just a handful of people.
And with its easy travel links from Glasgow, Edinburgh, and further north, it’s a perfect meeting place for your guests too.
If you’re thinking about getting married here, let’s talk about how we can make your Stirling wedding ceremony feel completely your own.

Stirling sits right in the heart of Scotland. It's known as the gateway between the Lowlands and the Highlands, with rolling hills, ancient buildings and some of the most recognisable views in the country. Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, the Ochil Hills and the River Forth all give Stirling its own kind of beauty.
In 2023, around 465 weddings took place across the Stirling area, and that number grows every year as more couples realise what this part of Scotland has to offer. Stirling gives you that perfect mix. It's easy for your guests to reach from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth, but still feels like you're getting married somewhere truly Scottish.
I work with couples from all over. Some local, some travelling from other parts of Scotland, and many who have chosen Stirling as the perfect place for their destination wedding in Scotland. And honestly, it’s easy to see why. You can have incredible history, scenery and venues here, but without the heavy crowds you sometimes get in the bigger cities.
The brilliant thing about getting married with a celebrant in Scotland is that the ceremony itself can be fully legal. I’m authorised to conduct legal weddings here, which means you don’t need a separate visit to the registry office. Your ceremony with me is your official legal marriage.
Before your wedding, you'll submit your marriage notice forms to Stirling Council. This needs to be done at least twenty-nine days before your ceremony date, and I’ll guide you through the paperwork so you know exactly what’s required. On the day itself, we simply need two witnesses present, and together we’ll sign the marriage schedule to make everything official.
Because the legal side is simple, we can put our energy into the bit that really matters. Creating a ceremony that feels like you. That’s where working with a celebrant is very different from other kinds of ceremonies. There’s no fixed script or rigid structure. We start with your story, your ideas, and your personalities, and from there, we shape a ceremony that feels personal, meaningful and relaxed.
We can meet up in Stirling if you're local, or we can chat online if you're further away. Many of my couples coming from overseas like to have our first few meetings online, and then we meet in person when they arrive in Scotland closer to the big day.

One of the lovely things about Stirling is that you are spoiled for choice when it comes to wedding locations. You can go full historic, head into the countryside, or keep it small and simple.

Stirling Castle is the most famous wedding venue in the area, and for good reason. The castle sits high above the city with views across to the hills and the river below. Inside, the Chapel Royal offers a beautiful space for your ceremony, filled with light and history. Outside, the castle walls and gardens make an incredible backdrop for your photographs.

The Stirling Highland Hotel is another favourite for couples who want that mix of history and comfort. The building itself used to be the old High School, and it still has plenty of character, with its observatory tower and stone exterior. Inside, there are lovely function rooms that work for both large and small weddings.

Hotel Colessio, right in the centre of Stirling, offers a slightly more modern feel but still full of Scottish charm. With its grand Victorian building, beautiful ballroom, and views of the castle from the terrace, it works really well for couples who want everything in one place.

Inglewood House and Spa near Alloa sits just outside the city and is perfect for couples looking for peace and countryside surroundings. This Jacobean mansion sits within beautiful gardens, and the spa is a lovely extra if you want a bit of pampering before or after the ceremony.

The Cowane’s Hospital is another fantastic Stirling venue that often gets overlooked. Sitting right beside Stirling Castle, this historic guildhall offers a truly unique setting for more intimate ceremonies. The beautiful Great Hall has large windows, original stonework, and views across the Old Town. For couples who want somewhere atmospheric and full of Stirling’s history, it works beautifully.

For couples looking for something a little more rural, nearby towns like Doune, Callander, Bridge of Allan and Dunblane offer beautiful countryside venues, small lodges, and peaceful riverbank settings. Some of my favourite ceremonies have taken place beside the River Teith, in hidden gardens, or on quiet hillsides just a short drive from Stirling city itself.
And of course, if you are dreaming of an outdoor ceremony, Stirling has plenty of options. From riverside parks to quiet woodlands and the fields below the Wallace Monument, we can create a ceremony surrounded by the scenery that makes Scotland so special.
One of the things I love about working in Stirling is how naturally Scottish traditions fit into the ceremonies here. With the castle, the hills and the history all around you, adding in a few nods to Scotland makes perfect sense.
Many couples choose to include a handfasting. This is one of the oldest Scottish wedding traditions, where your hands are gently tied together using ribbons or family tartan. It’s a simple but powerful moment that works beautifully in both large and small ceremonies.
The quaich ceremony is another lovely tradition. After your vows, you both share a drink from the two-handled quaich cup. Often whisky, but it can be any drink that means something to you. I’ve had couples use water from a local loch, Irn Bru, or even their favourite cocktail.
Bagpipes often feature too. Whether playing you in at the start, during the signing, or leading you out at the end, the sound of the pipes always adds something very special. And for readings, many couples choose poems or extracts from Robert Burns, Jackie Kay, or other Scottish writers to give their ceremony a real sense of place.
These little touches don’t take over the ceremony, but they add meaning and a sense of Scotland that feels right, especially in Stirling where history and place are such a big part of the day.

From the moment you first get in touch, my job is to help you feel relaxed about the ceremony. I know that planning a wedding can feel like a lot, but the ceremony should never be the bit that stresses you out.
We’ll chat about your ideas, your story, and what you want the day to feel like. You don’t need to have a full plan. Even if you have no idea where to start, that’s completely fine. My job is to guide you gently through it all, so that by the time the ceremony arrives, you feel completely at ease.
I’ll write your ceremony based on our conversations, making sure it reflects who you are as a couple. On the day itself, I’ll arrive early, check everything’s running smoothly, and help settle any nerves. I work quietly with your other suppliers to make sure the ceremony flows naturally and never feels rushed or staged.
And once the legal paperwork is signed, I’ll step back and let you carry on with your celebrations. My role is to help set the tone for a day that feels truly yours, and then let you enjoy every moment of it.

Yes. As an authorised celebrant in Scotland, I can legally marry you without the need for a separate civil ceremony.
Yes, I’ll guide you through submitting your marriage notice forms and make sure everything is in place ahead of your ceremony.
Absolutely. Stirling Council allows celebrant-led ceremonies in approved outdoor spaces, and many private venues have beautiful outdoor areas too.
Of course. Readings, personal vows, handfastings, or symbolic rituals can all involve your loved ones.
How far in advance should we book?
